On the evening of the first day of Spring, several HCC members entertained and instructed their audience with some very intriguing demonstrations they have used to be more creative with their photography. We saw such an interesting variety of post processing techniques using programs such as Photoshop & Lightroom, Nik, Topaz, and Virtual Painter. A few of the creative shorts included techniques employed in camera as well.

Here is a short description of the presenters’ ‘creative shorts’.
Tim Morton – antique look
Dan Copeland – Twirl the Native Dancer
Juraj Dolanjski – watercolour effect on IR
Jeff Dunn – Venice dawn becomes vibrant daylight
Mary Gilmour – distorted spiral stairway
Pat Gubbins – antique plated ‘Pretty Kitty’
Gail MaLellan – 6 bugs in a row
Dennis Martin – 3 eggs reproduced with light & texture
Hugh McGilchrist – altering light rays in Christ Church Cathedral
Rick McKenzie – b&w seascape adding motion to sky & water
Tricia Shulist – small world photos -16 panorama photos in a circle
Karl Stahl – mountain scape & super moon from egg shaped rock
Doug Turner – HDR Hamilton Beach MilkShake blender
Cathy Ward – woodpecker using filters including poster edges, sketchy watercolour & Topaz pencil crayon
Susan Breau – LaSalle Park seascape with lantern on a rock using long exposure in camera creativity
Linda Schettle – out of focus Christmas tree lights – instead of looking for new things, look at things new

No excuses now for playing with some new ideas for your creative side.
