Clinic Assignment Topics

2023 / 2024 Projected Topics

2024/25 Assignment Topics can be found below

Shadows are the dark areas where a light source is blocked by an object. Shadows change shape, intensity, and even colour along with the angle, direction, and temperature of light. Any photo that uses shadows as a prominent part of the composition — to enhance the contrast of a subject or as the subject itself — is shadow photography. It is not compulsory to have a very bright background as in silhouette.

Not to be confused with a silhouette which is the dark shape and outline of someone or something visible in restricted light against a brighter background.

Back light

Back lighting relates to a design of lighting where a key-light or one of the main lights, is placed facing the camera with the subject placed between them. The effect is to produce a glow or rim on the edges of the subject at the back. The glow effect at the back leaves the rest of the subject in shadow, or weakened light. Back lighting can be created by artificial light or by using natural light.
